U.S. of Tara cancelled and maybe a sign

I started watching U.S. of Tara out of convenience. I had a temporary free subscription to Showtime so I watched. Not only did I find that I liked the show, but I grew jealous of the tight relationship between the teenaged brother and sister in the show. They genuinely loved - and LIKED- each other.

I was over half-way through the 3rd season before I realized there wouldn't be a 4th. My ridiculous affinity of Kate and Marshall's tight siblinghood was sealed by their recollection/singing of the following:

"Lemondade. Crunchy ice. Sip it once. Sip it twice.

Lemonade. Crunchy ice. Make it once. Make it twice.

Touch the ground, turn around,

Kick your boyfriend out of town...now freeze!"

It's television, and they were very cute together. Unfortunately real-life siblings don't always truly love each other.

Quality time

I spent some quality time with Sydney last night while her parents took her brother to see his new school. She asked me to bring Rusty along and the three of us played chase until we were all pretty worn out.

What a smile!

Vacation Foolery

The Glazener beach week 2011 just wasn't up to par. Todd's illness wasn't the only wrench in the plans. There were way too many deviations from the regular schedule. I'm sad to say that I feel robbed of a vacation. Boo.

I didn't take very many photos either - really - there were very few snapped. Hence this post - I think these of Abby and I are the only ones I took the entire week. Good shots though, as we were surely having a great time!

Beach puzzle

The Glazeners finished this one in a few days on Holden Beach. Dogs galore!

Blue Mystique

I picked up one of these orchids last night as a thank you gift for my brother's family for agreeing to keep Zoe in the fall. It's a "Blue Mystique" orchid from Silver Vase (sold by Kroger).

Being a Tar Heel fan, I had to get one for myself, too!

Magic bubbles

Dinner with sweet kids and their fab mommy last night. Daddy was out of town so when mommy got a call from daddy I took the kiddies out in the front yard where they kept me RAPT with more information than I ever wanted. Trust me, you'd rather not know, so I'll just point attention to the most adorable kiddies ever.

I brought them each a bottle of "magic bubbles" with which the three of us managed to blow a gazillion bubbles before bed time. See Sydney here with her "magic" wand.

Road Trip

Zoe, Rusty and I went to Winston-Salem Saturday to spend Easter with Abby and the rest of the Glazener family. We dyed eggs on Saturday night so Abby could find them Sunday morning.

As you can see in the linked video, Rusty thoroughly enjoyed my brother's fenced yard. I have a feeling he's going to really miss his new friend Charlie! I'll miss Charlie, too, because he did a very good job of tuckering Rusty out.

The photo below was taken in the car at a red light before we left Winston-Salem's city limits. Rusty spent the remaining 75 minutes zonked out on a dog bed in the back seat, and when we got home he came inside to do more of the same.

We've been home for almost 2 hours and Rusty is still sound asleep!

Marathon Man

My brother ran his first Boston Marathon today and finished at a personal best time of 3:11:54. Go Todd!

I am so proud. Even at my best shape ever (when I was swimming) I don't know if I could run 26 miles. Whew!

Here's a fist pump to you, Todd!

Antique hand me down

The first two pictures are of me wearing an ABC dress that I'm pretty sure someone made for me when I was a baby. My mom says I am a little over 2-years-old in these pics. That's my cute brother in the second pic with me.

I gave the dress to my goddaughter, but she had apparently outgrown it before Kerry could get her into it, so I passed it on to another of my oldest friends and her daughter, Ansley. Here she is showing it off. So retro and very cute!

Kid's movie night

Best kid's movie ever - I LOVE Monsters Inc. I have my own copy - that and Corpse Bride, which comes in at a close second.

Abby spent the night with me Friday night - and let me just say that she is the most horrible person to share a bed with ever. She kicked me at least twice, slapped me with her arm once, and hogged the comforter - and the bed - all night. Of course I love her, but I'll think twice before volunteering to share my bed with her again.

Nevertheless, we giggled through the whole movie - rewinding our favorite parts - and genuinely enjoying each other's company. Wish I could see that sweet kid more often - just not in my bed!

Newest member of the family

I introduced him as Brownie on January 31st, but this little guy is now a permanent member of my brother's family. Name change pending. They're trying to come up with a UNC-inspired name, and trust me, all the obvious ones have already been thrown out there.

Let me know if you have any suggestions beyond the following: Roy, Tyler, TJ, Ramsey. Other names they like, but that I'm not partial to are: Humphrey; Joey (have a friend with that dog's name); Max (ditto); Obie. I mentioned Opie - like the yellow dog from Garfield.

I can't wait to meet him!

Shiny Happy Burleighs

I had dinner at the Burleigh house last night and thoroughly enjoyed the antics per usual. In the photo below I've barely managed to tear Felton's attention away from his mommy's iphone.

LOVE!

Tiny foster puppy

This is "Brownie," and he is about 9 weeks old. Abby really wants to keep him! He's supposedly a random mix of Jack Russell, Corgi and maybe Chihuahua, and he only weighs about 4.5 pounds.

All of the previous foster puppies have since been adopted!

Puppy Fonda

Fonda is the latest in a string of foster puppies hosted by my brother's family. She has a buddha belly and is one crazy pup! I think she's got some pit bull in her.

Better foster puppies pic

My heart is melting! Dutch (left) & Rory (right).

Foster puppy love

The two current canines living it up at Chez Glazener in Winston-Salem. Super-sweet snuggling!

Both puppies will eventually be available for adoption from the Forsyth Humane Society.

Group shots aren't always easy...

I've posted 3 pics here, but I know we took 5 times that many in an attempt to get a perfect group photo. Geez. Misfired timers, ill-positioned angles, eyes closed, dogs missing...My favorite - most likely to the end of time will be #2. Fuzzpa's HUGE smile is PRICELESS!!! Especially since "Fuzzpa doesn't smile."

Lovely greetings

The scans below are just a few of the images included in my brother's family Christmas greeting card. I LOVE them - especially the one of Abby throwing the leaves. The card/photos were produced by Ashley Billings Photography in Winston-Salem. In my opinion this is beautiful work. I plan to request an extra card for scrapbooking!

Buy coffee gifts

I love these gorgeous cards designed for Starbucks. If you have a coffee-loving friend, please consider purchasing a Starbucks gift card for them this Christmas. I know I'll be gifting them to a lucky few! :)

Heels hold on to Victory Bell

Despite some terrible refereeing, the Heels came out on top Saturday night defeating Dook 24-19. The Heels haven't lost to Dook in Durham since 1988, and they've won 20 of the last 21 games against the dookies. GO HEELS!

Maria, Abby and I took some self-portraits to celebrate our lead in the second half.

We gave in to Abby's request for a "goofy shot."
